Police in the Western Region have gunned down five suspected armed robbers terrorizing residents of Wassa Asundua in the Amenfi East Municipality.
The community had been living in fear due to a string of recent robbery attacks targeting gold dealers.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, the community quickly alerted the police about the presence of the armed gang, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon arrival, police engaged the robbers in an intense gun battle, resulting in the deaths of four suspects.
However, one suspect managed to escape and is currently on the run.
Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the fugitive, and the community remains on high alert as the search continues.
This operation comes after a series of armed robbery incidents in the area, including the killing of a gold buyer at Wassa Akropong.
