Antoine Semenyo scores on his 50th Premier League appearance
Black Stars and AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo celebrated his 50th English Premier League appearance with a lovely goal to aid Bournemouth score its second win in six games.
Semenyo scored the last goal for Bournemouth in The Cherries’ 3-1 win over Southampton at the Vitality Stadium. The Ghanaian international danced through a fleet of Southampton players before smashing the ball past them into the bottom right corner of Aaron Ramsdale’s goal.
Semenyo had contributed to Dango Ouattara’s deflected goal for Bournemouth’s second goal. However, the former Bristol City player’s failure to clear a loose ball from a corner kick in the second half led to Southampton’s consolation goal.
Speaking after the game that had him score his third goal in six league games this season, Semenyo described his goal as one that caught Southampton defenders off guard.
“Just try to get to create some space and shoot really and I got enough space, hit it (the ball) hard low and it just trickled in the bottom corner so I’m happy. I caught the defenders off guard with a chop and like I said, just wanted to create space and get the shot away and I did and it went in.”
