Black Satellites to face Benin, Togo and Niger in U-20 AFCON qualifiers
The Black Satellites of Ghana have been housed in Group A for the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) WAFU B qualifiers slated for next month.
Desmond Ofei and side will come up against Togo, Benin and Niger in their group with Group B consisting of Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
The Black Satellites will hope to play in the 2025 U-20 AFCON with the qualifiers expected to be staged in Togo next month.
Ghana has not competed since last winning it in 2021 under Karim Zito. The team failed to make the last edition which was won by Senegal in 2023.
The four-time champions will be aiming to make a return to the continental stage at that level with the competition also serving as qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup.
The Black Satellites, earlier this year, beat Uganda to win gold at the 2023 African Games which was held in Ghana.
The competition is scheduled to kick off from October 17 to 31, 2024.
