Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Evans Nimako has dismissed claims that the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, picked the number one slot on the ballot and secretly gave it to the NPP.

Following the balloting at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Accra on Friday, September 20, rumours surfaced claiming the NPP might have swapped numbers with another candidate.

However, Mr Nimako has firmly denied the allegations, arguing that the concerns were baseless.

According to him, no presidential candidate would be willing to give up their number spot on the ballot because it would equally give him an added advantage in the December elections.

“Presidential candidate for a political party loves New Patriotic Party, our presidential candidate so much that when he had balloted for his position, he would swap?

“I don’t know where this is coming from and we must not at any point entertain such ideas and thoughts in our discourse. Not at all. Nothing of that sort happened. I think we must throw that issue into the marine,” he said.

The flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will appear at the first spot on the ballot paper while John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress will appear at the 8th spot.

The All People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, secured the 9th spot.

Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) picked number 5, and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) took the 7th position.

Independent candidates for the forthcoming presidential election on December 7, 2024, were also given their places on the ballot paper after the Electoral Commission (EC) balloting process on September 20, 2024.

The independent candidate Kofi Koranteng secured the 10th position, while George Twum Barima will appear at the 11th spot. The Movement for Change will be listed last at number 13, while the New Force Movement, led by Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has been placed in the 12th position.
