Chaos erupted between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and personnel of the Ghana Police Service during the ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana in Kumasi.
The incident resulted in the police firing teargas to dispel the supporters of the opposition party.

The protest organised by the NDC, escalated when tension flared between their supporters and the law enforcement officers at the Commission’s regional office.
This occurred after the agitated crowd was prevented from joining the NDC executives as they entered the regional office to present their petition to the Ashanti Regional EC boss.
The situation degenerated into a scuffle, resulting in the breaking of barricades and the shattering of the EC’s office glass doors.
According to reports, one protester sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
Additionally, a police officer was assaulted by protesters, while another sought refuge in a nearby house after being attacked.
The situation remains tense, with authorities working to restore order in the area.
Meanwhile, the police has refuted claims of any shooting incident at the Kumasi EC office adding that “no demonstrator has been injured by the police.”
In a press statement released on Tuesday, September 17, the police said:
“However, some demonstrators who went against the agreed arrangement by forcing their way into the compound of the EC office were restrained.”
The police urged the media to be circumspect in their reportage.
