A swarm of bees attacked residents of Akete in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region on Monday afternoon, injuring three persons.

Two victims, Afia Atta Amadu (35) and Kwakye (20) are in critical condition at the Methodist Hospital, while one person has been treated and discharged.

According to Afia, the bees have been nesting in a hive on a mango tree on the outskirts of town for three years.

However, it’s unclear what triggered their sudden aggression.

She recounted how the bees invaded her room, forcing her to flee for her life.

Others were held hostage as no one could enter or exit their homes.

Some residents have attributed the attack to spiritual forces, but authorities have not confirmed this.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced plans to fumigate the town to ensure resident safety.

The incident has sparked concern among locals, who are calling for immediate action to prevent further attacks.

The GNFS’s intervention aims to neutralize the threat and restore normalcy to the community.
