The headmistress of O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS)  fled for her life during a meeting with the family of a murdered student of the school.

Nadia Lartechoe Annan was part of the Ghana Education Service (GES) delegation that visited the grieving family on Wednesday, September 4.

On Monday, September 2, 2024, a final-year student at O’Reilly SHS stabbed another student to death following an argument.

The victim has been identified by his family as 18-year-old Edward Borketey Sackey, a final-year Visual Arts student.

This prompted GES and the management of the school to condole with the family and see the way forward.

However, the meeting became chaotic, when tempers flared as family members accused the school management of showing little interest in the incident.

Furious family members began yelling and charging towards the school management.

Sensing danger, the headmistress took to her heels before the situation escalated.

The father had earlier accused the school and teachers of negligence and threatened to sue the management.

He said neither the school administration, the attacker’s family, nor the police has reached out to them regarding the situation.

“We want answers from the school authority, and the parents of the boy and the police. What happened to the extent of leading to the student stabbing his friend? That’s all we want. We want justice, and we want the school authority to explain to us if the teachers were not at the school when it happened, or they were there, or they did not care.”

He added that the administration had invited police officers to prevent them from accessing the campus.

Meanwhile, the student responsible for the stabbing has since been arrested.
