NDC selects Rex Omar to head Creative Arts for Mahama’s reelection bid

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed renowned Highlife musician, Rex Omar, to spearhead the party’s creative arts initiatives ahead of the 2024 general election.

According to a statement, Rex Omar will serve as the lead representative responsible for mobilising and organising stakeholders in the creative industry to support the party’s campaign efforts leading up to the December 7, 2024, election.

Rex Omar is a Ghanaian music legend and management expert, renowned for his specialisation in intellectual property rights.

With his extensive knowledge and experience, he has become a leading authority on the subject in Ghana. Throughout his illustrious career, Rex has held various prominent positions in the music industry, including:

– Chairman of GHAMRO (Ghana Music Rights Organization) since 2017, currently serving his second term

– Former Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana

– Member of the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy

– Former Head of Business and Finance of the Musician Union of Ghana

Additionally, the well-respected musician is a member of SUISSA, the Copyright Society of Switzerland, and has a publishing contract with EMI in Germany.
