We are focused on AFCON 2025 qualifiers – Otto Addo
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says his immediate priority is the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, which will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Otto, who led Ghana to back-to-back 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying wins against Mali and Central Africa Republic, has put Ghana in contention for the Mundial set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
On Tuesday, Ghana FA president, Kurt Okraku said the Black Stars is in a pole position to make a fifth World Cup appearance.
But the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach insist his immediate goal is next week’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
“It would be a mistake to look too far ahead. Right now, my focus is entirely on Angola, as they are a tough opponent. That’s where my attention is,” Otto Addo stated.
Ghana is scheduled to play Angola in Kumasi on Thursday, 5th September 2024, followed by a match against Niger four days later in Morocco.
Niger currently lacks a CAF-approved stadium to host continental fixtures.
