Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, announced that prize monies have been disbursed to the top ten performing clubs in the Ghana Premier League for their exceptional performance in the previous season.
To boost competition and enthusiasm in the domestic league, the GFA leadership pledged to award prize monies to teams finishing first to tenth place in the 2023/24 season.
Addressing the 30th Ordinary Congress in Prampram, Okraku confirmed that his administration has honoured its commitment by paying the prize monies to the deserving clubs.
I’m very happy to report to Congress that the Football Association have fulfilled the promise we penciled out before the start of the competition last season. We have paid all the prize monies to Samartex, Accra Lions, Berekum Chelsea, Nsoatreman FC, Aduana Stars, Asante Kotoko, Nations FC, Medeama, Bechem United and Dreams FC in that order from the first position to the tenth position, he said.
The league champions, Samartex, received a prize money of GH¢500,000 (approximately $33,000) for their maiden title win last season.
Accra Lions, the runners-up, were awarded GH¢200,000, while Berekum Chelsea, who finished third, took home GH¢100,000.
Aduana, who secured the fourth spot, received GH¢80,000.
The remaining teams in the top ten were also rewarded: Nsoatreman (fifth) received GH¢70,000, Nations (seventh) got GH¢50,000, Medeama (eighth) received GH¢40,000, Dreams (ninth) took home GH¢30,000, and Bechem United (tenth) received GH¢20,000.
