“Ghana needs an upgrade not a reset” — Bawumia jabs Mahama
The war of words between the two main poltical heavyweights contesting the 2024 presidential elections is not slowing down, with the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the latest to throw another punchline.
In a press meeting on Sunday, August 25, Dr Bawumia called on Ghanaians to reject his rival, NDC flagbearer former President John Dramani Mahama, at the polls on December 7.
Dr Bawumia stated: “Ladies and gentlemen, I represent the future and Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset”.
This seemed to be a direct response to former President Mahama’s comments the previous day at the launch of the NDC Manifesto.
Mr Mahama had constantly urged Ghanaians to kick out Dr Bawumia from government, comparing him to an “inexperienced driver’s mate” likely to plunge Ghana into chaos.
He added: “Tomorrow we take the first step towards resetting our dear nation Ghana. We face challenges that have held us back for too long, but now it’s time to build the Ghana we all want together. Join me from Winneba in the Central region as I unveil a vision for our future that will bring justice, jobs, and prosperity to every corner of our beloved nation, Ghana. Tomorrow, we begin the journey together.”
Former President Mahama goes head-to-head with Dr Bawumia, with the former staging a strong come-back after eight years in opposition while the latter aims to extend the NPP’s grip on power.
