A brazen armed robbery has left a trail of fear and destruction at the Star Oil Filling Sation in Gomoa Dominase Junction, Central Region.
According to the police, the robbery happened around 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Information gathered indicates that four masked men, armed to the teeth, stormed the station, when Ali Mohammed, an attendant at the station, was serving a customer.
The four men, two armed with pump-action guns and two with knives, began firing live bullets and sending customers and staff running for cover.
The robbers subsequently made off with GH¢3,392 before fleeing the scene.
“They came in, started firing, and took the money,” said a witness.
The station’s CCTV cameras captured the entire ordeal, providing crucial evidence for the police investigation.
This daring heist marks the second time the filling station has been targeted, leaving owners and employees shaken.
The police are urging anyone with information to volunteer to help apprehend the suspects.
They allegedly bolted with GH¢1,000,000 during their operation on Thursday, May 23.
According to eyewitness accounts, the armed robbers broke into the station’s office, disconnected the CCTV, and removed the digital video recorder.
They also tied the hands of a security guard and five fuel attendants who were present at the time before carrying out their operation.
While speaking to journalists, Kwabena Tawiah, the director of the fuel station, said the area needed an intensified police patrol.
