A 26-year-old hunter, identified as Emmanuel Donkor, is in police custody for fatally shooting his friend Kwaku Aboagye, 57.
The suspect gunned down the deceased after mistaking him for an animal at Assin Seidukrom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
According to reports, Aboagye, popularly known as ‘Accra Bread’, went on a hunting expedition with Donkor but failed to return home on January 26, 2024.
All attempts to find ‘Accra Bread’ proved futile.
After several months of search and investigation, a police team led by Detective Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey arrested Donkor, who was last seen with the deceased.
Initially, Donkor denied knowledge of Aboagye’s whereabouts but later confessed to the crime under intense questioning.
He led police to the Kakum Forest Reserve, where skeletal remains believed to be Aboagye’s were found, along with distinctive clothing items.
“I didn’t mean to shoot my friend; I thought he was an animal,” Donkor said in his confession.
