Tariq Lamptey to miss Brighton’s EPL opener against Everton
Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey will miss Brighton and Hive Albion’s league opener against Everton Today at Goodison Park.
The Seagulls travel to Merseyside for their 2024/25 league opener under new manager Fabian Hurzeler.
The Ghana international, who missed the pre-season friendly against Villarreal, returned to training ahead of the trip to Everton this week.
However, Hurzeler disclosed ahead of the match, the 24-year-old will not be ready for the season opener as he recovers from a knock during preparations.
“It’s great news that they’re back, but I’m not sure if they’re ready for the first match,” Hurzeler said in his first presser ahead of his EPL debut.
Lamptey remains a key figure at the Amex Park and will be expected to play a huge role in the new season, having flourished as a versatile wing-back.
The English-born defender is expected to also be match fit ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers in September against Angola and Niger.
