2024 Sometutuza launched
This year’s Sometutuza festival of the people of Some Traditional Area in the Ketu South municipality of the Volta Region was recently launched at Ho Pleasure Gardens.
The celebration, which will be climaxed with a durbar in Agbozume on September 28, is on the theme: ‘Sometutuza 2024 – Sustaining the Peace and Unity of Some For Development’.
The Paramount Chief of Some, Togbiga Adamah III who performed the ceremony, said it was vital to preserve one’s ancestral and cultural identity, as well as traditional values through festivals.
He said the many young people from Some were losing their roots and that trend must be curbed to honour the history of the people of Some.
“We must constantly show pride in our heritage and chart the way for development,” Togbiga Adamah added.
He entreated the people of Some to live in harmony with their neighbours all the time to ensure smooth progress.
Togbiga Adamah III urged the youth to maintain a firm stance of patriotism with a united front to honour the bravery of their ancestors and commit great zeal to the development of the area.
The Patron of the Agbozume Union in Ho, Colonel (rtd) Cyril Necku said the people of Some are known over for their independence and self-help spirit, which he said, must be harnessed for development.
The highlight of this year’s celebration includes clean up exercises, religious activities, quiz, bonfire and jams, youth and professional summit, football match and other games.
The celebration will also feature a children’s durbar, beauty pageant, street carnivals, and borborbor night sessions.
