Match-fixing sent Great Olympics to relegation – McDan

The Executive Chairman of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley [McDan], believes that match-fixing led to Great Olympics’ relegation from the Ghana Premier League last season.

The Dade boys were relegated by just one point, finishing with 44 points. Hearts of Oak, Legon Cities, and Heart of Lions all ended the season with 45 points.

Heart of Lions scored a controversial penalty in stoppage time to draw 2-2 against Berekum Chelsea and avoid relegation. Hearts of Oak also came from behind to beat Bechem United 3-2 and secure their safety.

Speaking on the situation, McDan said, “The match-fixing is too much. They are destroying our football with betting.

“When a ball is shot, the goalkeeper goes one way and the ball goes the other way. Football is beautiful, don’t destroy it for us.

“It is because of the match-fixing our players can’t play at the highest level. It is because of the match-fixing that Great Olympics were relegated.”

McDan was a sponsor of Great Olympics last season, with his brand written on their shirt.
