Aberdeen receive record fee as Miovski joins Girona

Aberdeen have received a club-record fee from Girona for striker Bojan Miovski.

The 25-year-old North Macedonia forward scored 44 goals in 91 starts after signing two years ago from MTK Budapest.

The La Liga side finished third behind Real Madrid and Barcelona last season and will play in the Champions League this campaign.

Miovski, who has passed his medical and signed a four-year contract, will start training with his new team on Friday.

He began his professional career aged 18 in the North Macedonian First Division with Bregalnica and played for Rabotnicki, Makedonija and Renueva before joining MTK in Hungary in 2020.

“Bojan has been a magnificent number nine for Aberdeen and although we are clearly sad to be losing him, we’re also delighted he has achieved such an exciting move,” said Dons chief executive Alan Burrows.

“He deserves it, and we thank him for his significant contribution. The deal is a good one for the club and further strengthens the player trading strategy adopted and driven by Dave Cormack and the board over a number of seasons.

“We have already added six players in this window and our recruitment department, together with the manager, continue to explore ways to strengthen the squad between now and the end of the month.”
