WAFU B WCLQ: Hasaacas Ladies settle for a draw in opener against Omnisports
Hasaacas Ladies, Ghana’s Women’s Premier League champions, kicked off their 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers campaign with a gritty 0-0 draw against Omnisports Etincelle in the WAFU B zonal qualifiers.
In their opening match at the Stade de la Paix de Bouake, the Ghanaian team, making their second appearance in the competition, weathered a dominant first hour from the Burkinabe side.
Goalkeeper Grace Banwaa shone with crucial saves in both halves, denying Omnisports Etincelle and securing a hard-earned point for Hasaacas.
The introduction of midfielder Fidous Yakubu boosted Hasaacas’ attack, but they couldn’t break the deadlock.
Although the draw wasn’t the desired start, it marks an improvement from their previous qualifiers appearance, where they lost 2-0 to Nigeria’s River Angels.
Hasaacas Ladies now turn their attention to their next group match against Nigeria’s Edo Queens.
