Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku announced on Friday, August 9, in Sunyani, that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will soon be introduced in Ghana’s topflight football league.
Okraku emphasized the GFA’s commitment to embracing technological advancements, stating, “We will introduce VAR to our football.”
The implementation of VAR is a key aspect of the GFA’s strategy to enhance refereeing standards in the country, with the Ghana Premier League (GPL) being the first to adopt the technology.
Additionally, the GFA has confirmed the 2024/25 GPL season will commence on September 6, followed by the Division One League on September 27.
