CAF and African Football will forever be grateful to President Hayatou – Dr. Patrice Motsepe
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, on behalf of the Confederation and its 54 Member Associations, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of former President Issa Hayatou.
In a statement, CAF mourned the loss of the legendary leader, acknowledging the profound impact of his passing.
Dr. Motsepe praised Hayatou’s enduring legacy, stating that African football will forever owe a debt of gratitude to the late president for his tireless contributions to the sport.
I express my deepest personal condolences and the condolences of the 54 CAF Member Associations, on the passing of CAF former President, President Issa Hayatou; to his family, the Fédération Camerounaise de Football, its President Samuel Eto’o and the people of Cameroon.
CAF and African Football will forever be grateful to President Hayatou for his enormous and far-reaching contributions, over many years to the development and growth of football in Africa. He will forever live in our hearts and minds. Dr. Patrice Motsepe said.
President Issa Hayatou led CAF from 1988 to 2017 and passed on Thursday, August 8.
Meanwhile, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has requested that the CAF flag and the flags of all CAF Member Associations fly at half-mast for five days, until August 13.
