A Sprinter bus skidded off the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway and plunged into a river at Fetteh Kakraba in the Central region, resulting in a tragedy.
One person was reported missing, and five others were seriously injured in the accident involving the vehicle with registration number GG 5639-19.
The incident happened on Thursday morning, August 8, 2024.
According to eyewitnesses and residents, the accident was caused by the negligence of a Nag Fairmont Company contractor working on the highway.
The company reportedly failed to cover the bridge under construction at Fetteh Kakraba and did not put up safety signs, posing a danger to commuters.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at Awutu Bereku Health Center.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants are calling on the Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, to take action against the contractor and engineers responsible for the safety of the highway.
