Ghana Athletics Vice President, Charles Osei Asibey, has praised the exploits of Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah ahead of the 4×100 Metre Men’s Relay competition.

Ghana will compete in the second of two heats in the semifinals of the Men’s Relay event that has Team Ghana running in Lane 3 against the likes of Jamaica, France and China.

The top three finishers in each heat progress automatically to the finals with the two quickest teams picking up the non-automatic slot to round up the field.

While the final team is yet to be named ahead of the race, Ghana’s Flagbearer at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, Amoah, looks to be a shoo-in to run the relay and this is down to his phenomenal performance according to Osei Asibey.

“Fortunately, they’ve been together for at least two weeks. Whoever the decision falls on tomorrow, will come good. Like you know, Joe Paul, our captain, has always made the relay team, his performance in the relay team has always been phenomenal. Looking at the experience of captain Joe Paul, Azamati, Rasheed Saminu, who is running so well coming into the team and then either [Isaac] Botsio] or [Ibrahim] Fuseini. We believe in the team. Like I said, they’ve been consistent since 2019.”
