The Oguaa Traditional Council has banned noise-making and funeral activities within the area, effective Tuesday, August 6, to Thursday, August 22, 2024.

The ban is part of preparations for the 2024 Oguaa Fetu Afahye, a significant cultural event in the area.

The festival is celebrated annually in the first week of September by the people of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

According to the traditional council, quarrelling, pounding of fufu after 6 pm, wailing and mourning loudly and playing drums or loud music are prohibited during the period.

They also placed a ban on fishing in the Fosu Lagoon and funeral activities until September 3 and September 21, respectively.

These measures are set to ensure a respectful and peaceful environment leading up to the festival.
