A suspect is in custody for stabbing his friend in the neck with a knife over a GH₵5 debt in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to reports, the suspect, Adiyaa and the victim, Mama Mpe Hia, have been friends for some time.
The 30-year-old Mama Mpe Hia had borrowed GH₵5 from Adiyaa but anytime a request was made for a refund Mama Mpe Hia made fun of Adiyaa and refused to pay.
On the day of the incident, Mama Mpe Hia repeated his jokes which infuriated Adiyaa after he demanded the GH₵5 he owed him.
Adiyaa snapped and attacked Mama Mpe Hia with a knife and stabbed him in the neck.
Mama Mpe Hia sustained a deep cut and was rushed to the Sunyani Government Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Adiyaa who fled the scene, has since been arrested by the police.
Residents are shocked by the incident, wondering how a dispute over such a small amount could escalate and cause two friends to go to this extent.
