The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reinstated its Central Regional Chairman, Prof Richard Kofi Asiedu.
Prof Asiedu was handed a one-month suspension on July 2, 2024, following the withdrawal of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah from his position as the party’s Assin Central parliamentary candidate over alleged immoral acts and anti-party conduct.
In a statement dated August 2, 2024, the NDC said it had reinstated the chairman with immediate effect.
This followed a deliberation on a report submitted by the National Disciplinary Committee by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on August 1.
“Your suspension as Central Regional Chairman of the party for a period of one month has elapsed. Pursuant to Article 48(9)(f) of the party’s constitution, you are hereby reinstated to your position as regional Chairman of the party in the Central region with immediate effect,” the letter said.
FEC further cautioned him of the importance of the cohesion and unity of the party in the region. It added that the party will be monitoring his actions closely to ensure that they do not jeopardize their chances in the upcoming December 7 polls.
“You are requested to meet FEC at its next meeting for further interaction,” the statement concluded.
