Alleged meter thief electrocuted at Suhyen

A man believed to be in his 30s has been electrocuted after allegedly attempting to steal a meter in Suhyen in the New Juaben North Municipality.

The lifeless body of the victim was discovered near an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer.

After residents discovered the body, they called on the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Ghana Police Service, who quickly responded to distress calls and reported at the scene.

Information gathered indicates that the deceased may have been electrocuted while attempting to steal components from the transformer.

The body has been conveyed to the St. Joseph’s Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The Effiduase Division of the Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the incident.

Confirming the incident and addressing the residents, the Deputy NADMO officer for the New Juaben North Municipality, Kankam Twumasi Daniel, advised the community to remain vigilant and avoid tampering with electrical installations.
