Hearts captain exits club amidst undisclosed issues
Hearts of Oak’s captain and defender, Kofi Agbesimah, has decided to leave the club despite having a year remaining on his initial two-year contract.
The 27-year-old, who joined from Bechem United last summer, cited undisclosed issues within the club as the reason for his dissatisfaction.
Agbesimah’s departure follows a standout season where he played a crucial role, featuring in 30 league matches and scoring one goal during the 2023/24 campaign. His leadership and experience have been invaluable to Hearts of Oak, making his exit a significant setback for the team.
In an interview with KessbenSports, Agbesimah expressed his frustration: “I’m not happy at Hearts of Oak. I want to leave. When Hearts signed me, If you look at how they hyped me and all that, I wanted to do something that would have made them very happy. But in football, certain things can happen which is very common in football, so that’s why I want to leave.”
Agbesimah’s decision marks a challenging period for Hearts of Oak as they navigate the loss of a key player and leader.
