Daniel-Kofi Kyereh eases back into training at SC Freiburg
SC Freiburg’s Ghanaian midfielder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, is taking a cautious approach to his comeback after a lengthy break of one and a half years.
According to Badische Zeitung journalist Nik Staiger, Kyereh is still adhering to a relatively low-intensity training regimen.
On Thursday, the 28-year-old participated in the initial activation segment of training but subsequently retreated to the ergometer. During the early stages of preparation, Kyereh’s activities were primarily confined to the weight room, with occasional running laps.
Kyereh is grappling with the aftermath of a cruciate ligament injury he sustained in February 2023, a setback that occurred merely half a year after his signing. Prior to his injury, he had managed to secure a spot in Freiburg’s starting lineup ten times across various competitions.
Given the prolonged absence, Kyereh faces a significant challenge in regaining his match fitness. However, the immediate priority is to achieve full physical fitness before progressing further.
