Black Queens arrive in Ghana after heavy defeat to Japan in friendly

The Black Queens of Ghana has returned home after their international friendly against Japan in Tokyo last Saturday.

The team led by coach Nora Hauptle and her technical team as well as players landed in Accra on Monday.

Ghana departed their base in Kanazawa, Japan, for the Naritao International Airport on Sunday without the likes of Grace Asantewaa, Linda Eshun and Princess Marfo who left camp to join their respective clubs abroad.

The Black Queens succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to Japan, who are preparing massively for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Despite the heavy defeat, coach Nora Hauptle will use the game to assess her players as she aims to build a solid squad for the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) slated for July 2025 after missing out on the Olympic Games.

The game was a good test for the Black Queens, giving the technical team a fair ideal about the level of the team ahead of the (WAFCON).

The Black Queens will continue their preparation as they gear up for the elite Women’s competition on the continent.
