A 40-year-old woman, Naomi Asante, has lost her sight following an alleged brutal assault by her 43-year-old self-styled pastor boyfriend in Tarkwa-Maakro, in the Ashanti Region.
According to the victim, the assault occurred after she decided to end their relationship and move out of the room they were sharing.
She claimed that her boyfriend Douglas Appiah subjected her to severe beatings, repeatedly hitting her head against a wall, which led to her blindness.
After the assault, Naomi stated that she was locked in a room by Appiah for a week without medical attention.
The victim says doctors at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have warned her that she must take immediate action to reverse the condition or risk permanent blindness.
The suspect, Douglas Appiah has since been arrested by police in the area.
The Assembly Member for the area, Prince Asamoah Boakye, confirmed that Naomi was indeed confined in a room.
However, Pastor Douglas Appiah, the accused, has denied the allegations, claiming that Naomi has a “spiritual problem” that causes her to become violent.
He insists the victim fell and hit her head on the ground, leading to her blindness.
