Ghana and UK will work towards mutual prosperity – Akufo-Addo tells new Prime Minister

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told the newly-elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) Sir Keir Starmer, that Ghana looks forward to continuing and deepening its longstanding and fruitful relations with the United Kingdom under his leadership.

Together, President Akufo-Addo said, Ghana and the UK will work towards shared goals and mutual prosperity for the benefit of their people.

President Akufo-Addo on behalf of the people and Government of Ghana, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Labour Party of the United Kingdom and its leader, Sir Keir Starmer, on their victory in the general election held on Thursday, 4th July 2024.

President Akufo-Addo said that this victory is a testament to the trust and confidence that the British people have placed in the Labour Party’s vision and leadership.

“I also wish to commend Rishi Sunak, the outgoing Prime Minister, and the Conservative Party for their service and dedication to the United Kingdom. I acknowledge and congratulate all other parties who participated in this election. Their contributions and commitment to democratic values have played a crucial role in the political discourse and development of the United Kingdom,” he said in a statement.

Indeed, he added, the democratic process in the UK has once again demonstrated its robustness and vibrancy, strengthening the frontiers of democracy in the country.

“Ghana looks forward to continuing and deepening our longstanding and fruitful relations with the United Kingdom under the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Together, we will work towards shared goals and mutual prosperity for the benefit of our peoples.

“Once again, congratulations to the Labour Party and to Prime Minister Keir Starmer.”
