Four persons have been confirmed dead, with 11 others injured in an accident involving a Burkina Faso-bound cargo truck, with registration number WR-184-N, and a ‘trotro’ with registration number AS-3600-17 at Suame-Maakro in the Ashanti region.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the trotro, with 15 passengers, was hit by the cargo truck after veering off its lane, causing the trotro to somersault several times.

Two passengers died on the spot.

The victims were immediately rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital, where two others succumbed to their injuries.

Eleven passengers who also sustained severe injuries have been admitted to the same hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have visited the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.

This incident comes after a commercial vehicle (trotro) with registration number AS 4719-18 reportedly ran into traders at Mallam Junction, resulting in three deaths.

The incident occurred when the brakes of the vehicle reportedly failed, and the driver lost control.

Consequently, the vehicle veered off the road into traders selling along the shoulders of the road.

While some traders noticed the approaching danger and managed to flee, others were hit by the out-of-control vehicle before they could react.

Three traders were trapped under the trotro, requiring considerable effort to rescue them.

Also, one person died, and two others were in critical condition following an accident at Aseseaso in the Eastern region.

The unfortunate incident involved staff from Koforidua Senior High Technical School who were returning to Koforidua after attending the funeral of a colleague’s spouse in Akwamufie, Asuogyaman District.
