Ghana FA to seek FIFA clarification on Kwasi Appiah’s possible conflict of interest

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to engage FIFA in discussions aimed at addressing concerns surrounding Kwasi Appiah’s simultaneous roles as the coach of Sudan and an Executive Council Member of the GFA during the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Appiah, currently steering Sudan’s national team, will face Ghana in Group F alongside Angola and Niger when qualifiers kick off this September.

Eyebrows has been raised over potential conflicts of interest arising from Appiah’s dual responsibilities, citing governance issues within the association.

“Kwasi Appiah was duly elected into office. It is within his right to accept any job opportunity that comes to him,” Communication Director of the Ghana FA, Henry Asante Twum told JoySports.

“It is an issue of governance, what is right and what is not right. We will consult FIFA governance on the matter and act on what they say.”

The qualifying matches for the 2025 AFCON are set to start in September 2024.
