The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the dates for the 2024 Exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register.
The voter’s exhibition exercise, initially to begin on August 1, has been rescheduled to begin on August 20 and end on August 27, 2024.
According to the EC, this will make way for the mop-up voter registration exercise slated for August 1 to August 3, 2024.
“The Exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register has been rescheduled. The commission encourages the participate in the exhibition exercise,” the EC said in a statement.
This is to enable prospective voters who could not do so during the first window of applications to do so.
The EC will also allow the application for special voting and proxy voting within the same period.
The Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare, revealed this on Monday, July 1.
He said it was agreed at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
Dr Asare added that the exercise will primarily target prison inmates, security personnel, and students.
The commission conducted a voter transfer exercise in June.
The exercise that was intended to last two days lasted for 16 days after it was riddled with violent incidents.
The EC also conducted a voter registration exercise from May 7 to May 29, 2024, and proceeded with a nationwide exercise to replace missing voter ID cards from May 30, 2024.
Per the schedule, the EC intends to submit the provisional voters’ register to the political parties between July 9 and 18, 2024.
The final voter register is expected to be submitted to the political parties between August 30 and September 5, 2024
