The Awutu Bereku District Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old okada rider over a missing 12-year-old schoolboy, Solomon Kwaku Wise, at Awutu Botoku in the Central Region.
The incident reportedly happened around 7:00 am on Monday, July 1, 2024, while Solomon was on his way to school.
Solomon’s mother, Cecelia Aquah, escorted her son to pick an okada from their junction to his school, but the suspect failed to drop Solomon off at his school.
She waited several hours after school closed, but Solomon never returned home.
Madam Acquah said she called her son’s teacher to enquire about him but was told Solomon was absent from school that day.
Together with the teacher, they searched for Solomon but to no avail.
After a fruitless search, she lodged a complaint with the Awutu Bereku District Police Command.
The police then recommended they check on a CCTV camera of a Chinese company along the Awutu Bereku- Bontrase road, where Solomon picked the okada.
The footage from the CCTV camera helped find the Okada rider, who was taken into police custody.
He admitted picking Solomon up on Monday, but when asked about his whereabouts, he denied knowledge and is currently with the police, assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Bismarck Kojo Ewusi, appealed to residents to help reunite Solomon with his family.
