A 70-year-old retired pastor of The Apostolic Church of Ghana, Pastor Joseph Kwaku Koranteng, has been crushed to death at Kasoa in the Central region.
The unfortunate incident happened when a speeding taxi with registration number GX 8200-20, crushed into him at Kasoa Chrispo City in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
Pastor Koranteng, who served at the Gomoa Nyanyano branch of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, died instantly while crossing the Kasoa-Winneba highway to check his blood pressure at Mother and Child Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the retired pastor was crossing the dual carriageway when the taxi struck him.
The police have since conveyed his body to the Mother and Child Hospital morgue for preservation.
The taxi driver has been arrested to assist with investigations.
The impact threw the driver and two passengers from the vehicle, and the truck’s rear tyres ran over the driver.
Witnesses reported that while the deceased was trapped under the car, some thieves at the scene stole money from his pockets.
