The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wa, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, has assured that the regional security council would do its best to arrest those responsible for recent killings in the area.

This follows the murder of two private security men at their duty posts in separate attacks at the Wa East office of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Wa Model Junior High School.

According to Mr Moomin, this effort will ensure that such happenings do not repeat in the municipality.

“What I can assure you is that the Regional Security Council, together with the Municipal Security Council, are taking some steps to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

“This is a security matter, and per what I have been told by the Regional Minister and the Regional Police Commander, the IGP is sending a team to come once again to assist us in unraveling the mystery behind the killings,” he noted.

The MCE, however, dismissed the possibility that foreigners are behind the crime, emphasising that no one should be ruled out, including the indigenes.

“Let me tell you that in this particular matter, I don’t identify a particular group as suspects. I heard people talking about foreigners but for me, I don’t want to believe that one. So I have to say that no one should be ruled out of this matter.

“Everyone, including the indigenes, should be a target for us to unravel the matter because when we begin to mention foreigners, more or less we restrict the frontiers of the investigation.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the death of the two persons.

The sad incidents were recorded on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

According to the police, the two incidents occurred at the Wa East Education Service office and the Wa Model JHS School.

While details of the incidents are yet to be disclosed, the police have assured residents of the area to remain calm as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic events.

“We would like to assure the public, especially the residents of Wa, to remain calm as the Police work to get those involved arrested to face justice,” the Ghana Police Service said in a statement.
