Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah (retired), a former National Security Advisor, has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to be fair to all participants in the upcoming December 7 polls.
While the NDC intends to return to power after eight years in opposition, the NPP is working hard to end the eight-year cycle associated with Ghana’s elections.
The December presidential and parliamentary polls are crucial to determine the next leaders who will govern the country in the next four years.
As the country gears up to head to the polls, the ex-serviceman believes the election results must reflect the will of citizens to be accepted by all parties.
“I just pray Jean Mensa and her people will play a fair game,” he noted in an interview.
Mr Nunoo-Mensah also expressed concern over the country’s low level of development after nearly three decades of governance between the NPP and the NDC.
According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that have governed the country in the Fourth Republic have failed the people.
He said, “I am a disappointed person. I thought Ghana would be a better place than we are today”.
“When you vote for parliamentarians and president, we are voting for them to run Ghana for our benefit, not for their benefit,” he stated on TV3.
He also noted that Ghana’s politics is heavily influenced by money, which is problematic.
He was concerned that the situation breeds corruption, and the trend must be reversed.
