A structure at the Tema Community 22 Starlight Market, near the local mosque in the Greater Accra region, collapsed in the early hours of Saturday, June 15.
The incident tragically resulted in one individual being trapped beneath the debris.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to the emergency.
A statement from the GNFS said rescue efforts are ongoing to retrieve the trapped person.
Meanwhile, authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collapse.
The public is advised to avoid the area to allow emergency services to work efficiently.
“Structural Collapse at Community 22 Starlight market near the mosque. One person trapped,” the GNFS statement read.
