A 27-year-old man is in critical condition while his girlfriend has been confirmed dead after stabbing each other at Kasoa Adam Nana in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
Police sources say the incident occurred after Justice’s girlfriend’s friend called to inform her that Justice had brought another woman to the house.
Upon hearing that her man had brought another woman home, Justice’s girlfriend is said to have grabbed a knife, hurriedly rushed to Justice’s house on a motorbike, and immediately stabbed him after he opened the door.
In the spur of the moment, Justice also grabbed the knife and stabbed her multiple times in the chest, leading to her death.
Several cases of spousal killings have been reported since the beginning of the year.
In a similar incident, a 60-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over infidelity at Insusiding, a community near Bogoso in the Western Region.
The suspect, Agya Kojo Nimo, a palm wine tapper, had been engaging in petty quarrels with his wife for some time.
The misunderstandings between the two, who had been married for 20 years, stemmed from accusations of cheating.
Sources added that Agya Nimo’s constant accusations pushed Aunty Ama, 50, to return drinks of their customary marriage to the husband’s family, which signifies the end of their marriage.
However, she continued to stay in the marital home to care for their children.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the palm wine tapper trailed the wife when she went to the farm to harvest cassava.
“So some few hours after the wife left, Agya Nimo also went to the same farm, and when he arrived and saw the wife working, he allegedly picked up a club and hit the wife’s head with it; the woman fell unconscious.
“The man continued to use the stick to hit the head and other parts of the woman’s body until she reportedly died,” a source narrated.
After committing the crime, he returned home and consumed a poisonous substance in an attempt to commit suicide.
