A/R: Policeman shot dead in forest reserve

A policeman with the Ashanti Regional Police headquarters has been shot dead by unknown assailants in the Bobiri Forest Reserve at Kubease near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, Sergeant Amoah Moses was discovered by officers from the Ejisu District Police headquarters led by DSP Patrick Okai Kodjoe, the District Commander assisted by ASP Hannah Amoafo and the District Crime Officer with the Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team led by DSP Francis Nimoh.

This followed a complaint by the Assemblyman of Kubease Electoral Area, Caleb Adu Agyemang, announcing that a male adult believed to be in his 30s was on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, found dead at the Bobiri Forest Reserve.

In his account, the deceased dressed in a green long-sleeve shirt over a khaki trousers and a black boot, was lying unconscious in a supine position in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound on the right leg below the knee.

It was reported that a single-barrel gun and a machete were also found beside the deceased.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical officer.

The body has since been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, the police have initiated investigations to unravel the mystery behind the death of the policeman.

This gruesome murder case follows an incident where two gunmen fatally shot two off-duty police officers sitting in front of their private residence at Block Factory, East Trasacco in Accra on May 2, 2024, at around 6 pm. 

A statement from the police on the incident indicated that the gunmen did not take anything from the victims and sped off on a motorbike after shooting them.
