Joseph Emmanuel Ackah, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC), Member of Parliament(MP) for the Jomoro constituency in the Western Region has passed on.
The late J.E Ackah, as he was affectionately called, served as the MP for the constituency from 1993 to 2005.
The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed by the family.
His demise was announced by Ellembelle MP and Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah in a post on X on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
His post reads: “I am saddened to learn of the passing of the Hon. J. E. Ackah, the longest-serving Member of Parliament for the Jomoro constituency, dedicating his service from 1993 to 2005.
“Prior to becoming an MP, Mr. Ackah distinguished himself as an outstanding educationist, who contributed tremendously to the educational advancement of our dear nation.
“From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Takoradi Technical University where he played a pivotal role in transforming the institution.
“He was a selfless public servant who lived a life of service and made a profound impact in all spheres of his life.
His demise is a great loss to the Nzema land and the country at large.
“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to his immediate family in this difficult period of grief.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire the people he diligently served”.

The leadership of the opposition NDC is yet to extend their condolence to the bereaved family following the passing of their stalwart.
