Seidu Abdulai Damba, a representative of the volunteers for the protocol and ceremonies department of the 2023 African Games, has praised the team’s performance during the competition.
In an interview, he scored the volunteer group 9.5 out of 10.
The 13th African Games were held in Ghana from March 8th to March 23rd, and Ghana won a record-breaking 69 medals in total at the event.
However, there has been some controversy regarding the payment of allowances for the volunteers of the games.
Damba believes that the delay may be due to the high volume of data involved in sorting through the payments.
Despite this issue, Damba commended the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers and their role in ensuring that Ghana was able to successfully host the 13th edition of the African Games.
“On the scale of 1 to 10, I will rate the performance of volunteers to the success of this program, 9.5. We were very committed. We did our best, we conducted ourselves very well. These disturbances were just a lack of proper communication…and it was the basis upon which volunteers were angry.”
In a statement released earlier this week, the Local Organizing Committee stated that each volunteer will receive 1000 Ghana cedis as an allowance.
