An Accra High Court has upheld the National Executive Committee (NEC) decision of the People’s National Convention (PNC) to suspend its General Secretary, Janet Nabla, indefinitely.
The suspension, enforced on August 28, 2021, stemmed from allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination and incompetence.
Nabla had previously rejected the decision following the recommendations of the party’s disciplinary committee.
However, a statement from the party dated April 8, 2024, announced that the court’s ruling brings to an end the three-year leadership crisis that has negatively impacted the party.
According to them, the verdict provides an opportunity to reorganise party structures and elect new party executives in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections.
The PNC views the judgement as a victory and urged factions within the party to unite, set aside their differences and collaborate towards a stronger and more cohesive political entity in the future.
