The maiden edition of the award is slated for the 2024 National Fish Festival in September 2024.
The award scheme is a platform to appreciate and recognize fishers and fishing communities for promoting responsible fishing practices, such as adherence to fishing regulations.
Categories of the award include: Best Community Enforcement Group, Best Community Fisheries Leader, Best Responsible Fisher, Best Responsible Fishing Community, Best Fisheries Reporter and Best Clean Landing Beach.
The Fisheries Ministry, in a notice to the public, said nominations would be opened from March 29 to April 29, 2024.
