ECG gives Fantasy Dome CEO 48 hours ultimatum to settle illegal connection case
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has given the management of Fantasy Dome 48 hours to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Circle branch of the company to address an illegal connection issue.
In a notice dated March 20, 2024, ECG revealed that the event company, situated at the Trade Fair site in Accra, was illegally consuming electricity.
“You are requested, in your own interest, to report within 48 hours from the date of this notice to (CSD) REVENUE PROTECTION NATIONAL TASKFORCE at the ECG PROJECT OFFICE BEHIND THE VIP TRANSPORT YARD (CIRCLE), preferably between the hours of 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM, to regularize your power service connection. You may bring along any relevant ECG document. EGG reserves the right to institute criminal proceedings against you at its convenience,” the notice highlighted.
Fantasy Dome was pulled down on Saturday, March 16, 2024, by unknown persons.
The CEO, Leslie Quaynor, alleged the Ghana Trade Fair Company connived with National Security for the operation.
The tenancy agreement between the owners of the Fantasy Dome and Trade Fair Company Limited expired on December 31, 2023.
Since then, all efforts by the management of the Trade Fair Company Limited to get ‘Fantasy Entertainment’ to remove the ‘Fantasy Dome’ from the Trade Fair site have proved futile.
According to Mr. Quaynor, he secured an injunction against a forceful eviction from the site, but the Fantasy Dome was demolished in his blind side.
Consequently, Mr. Quaynor revealed that he would resort to legal means to resolve the issue rather than attacking his opponents with force.
