A police escort team in Bawku prevented a potentially deadly assault on an Accra-bound bus carrying passengers from the Upper East Region.
The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon when about 10 gunmen reportedly ambushed the bus near a gas filling station close to Bawku Senior High School, opening fire.
Fortunately, the quick response of the police escort team, following behind, forced the assailants to flee the scene.
While no fatalities were reported, three individuals, including a man and two women, sustained injuries during the attack.
They are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the region.
Meanwhile, investigation have commenced and the culprits will face the full rigors of the law.
