The Mayor of New York City in the United States, Mr. Eric Adams will be the special guest of honour when the Asanteman community in the tri-state of New York inaugurates their traditional rulers. Also to be present, is the Bronx Borough President, Madam Vanessa Gibson.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the event which has the blessing of Manhyia Palace will take place on May 25th, 2024 in New York.
It is also in conjunction with the Asante Kotoko Association of North America, and the Asanteman Council of North America.
Nana Attakora Amaniampong would be crowned Asantefuohene (King of Ashantis) in New York whilst Nana Kwa Fobi goes for Queenmother.
The sub-chiefs are as follows, Nana Obeng Kusi, Gyasehene, Nana Adwoa Asaa, Adontenhemaa, Nana Yaw Ababio, Mbratiehene, Nana Afua Senchery, Kontihemaa, Nana Amo, Kontihene/Bronx Mayor, and Nana Ama Konadu, Gyasehemaa.
The rest are, Prince Marfo, Sompahene, Alimar Silver, Nkosuohemaa, Nana Adonteng Kwarteng, Abusuapanyin, and Nana Kofi Adu, Sumankwahene.
The group has already been to Manhyia in Kumasi to officially introduce themselves to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Attendance is 100 dollars for singles and 150 dollars for couples.
