Resign if you are tired – Deputy General Secretary of NPP to ministers
A Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has advised ministers of state who are exhausted and can not contribute effectively to the government to quit.
He said this would create the opportunity for other energetic people to take over and propel the government to the next heights.
The Deputy General Secretary added that this will enhance NPP’s chances of winning the 2024 elections.
“At this juncture, we are happy that the president has listened to the calls by the New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary to reshuffle his government. However, we are still calling on those who think they are very tired and cannot contribute to the fortunes of the government and the party. They should voluntarily resign so that people who will be able to assist will be appointed,” he said.
Mr Mohammed emphasised that there was enough time for both the government and the party to deliver effectively on their mandates to serve the Ghanaian people.
His comments come on the heels of President Akufo-Addo’s Valentine’s Day ministerial reshuffle.
This was after months of public pressure on the president to make changes in his cabinet.
President Akufo-Addo also removed the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ibrahim Awal Mohammed and Oti Regional Minister Joseph Makubu.
Ministers and deputy ministers who doubled as legislators but failed to retain their seats in the just-ended parliamentary primaries of the governing NPP were also removed from office.
