The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced an internal investigation into the tragic death of a first-year student of the Aburi Girls’ Senior High School.
According to GES, it is actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies to ensure an impartial examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The 15-year-old student, Stacey Okyere, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, after complaining of severe stomach pains.
Allegedly, she was denied medical attention by the school nurse, who purportedly accused her of repeatedly feigning illness.
Tragically, by the time she was rushed to the hospital, she had passed away.
The events leading to Stacy’s passing have drawn significant scrutiny and criticism of the school’s management, with the family alleging negligence.
In a press statement issued on Monday, February 12, GES extended its condolences to the bereaved family.
